GUNS HEARD IN WARSAW

TERRIFIC BATTLE RAGING RUSSIANS FIGHTING "THE FIGHT OF THEIR LIVES" ISONZO BATTLE , r 1 FATE OF GORIZIA SUBMARINE PIRACIES The echo of the guns and'the arrival .of wounded in Warsaw have • convinced tho inhabitants of the city that the situation is critical. The •Russians arc fighting the fight of their lives, and their desperate resistance is costing the Germans terrible losses. We are told to-day that the decisive hour of the conflict has not yet arrived, nor is it in siglit. : On the Austro-Italian front the great battle on the Isonzo is still developing in the Italians' favour, while the fate of Gorizia is sealed.,As an active, force for resistance the military value rf.the city has ceased to exist. There is very little of note from the Western front. The : . Germans apparently are concentrating a'submarine fleet at Zeebrugge, . for the arrival of the twelfth vessel to reach that port from Antwerp, via the Scheldt, is recorded. Matters in Gallipoli are quiet. Tho British • Parliament has adjourned, and to the' disappointment of many the ' House was not given an historic review of the war by Mr, Asquith, as members had hoped. The Prime Minister's speech, from the point of interest, contains 'less substance than that of Mr. Lloyd George. There has been a recrudescence of the German pirate war, and several more merchant vessels have been torpedoed.
