.. » ' -. — THE TOTAL' PURCHASES TO DATE. , Up to the present no fewer than twenty-five steamers have left New- Zealand for the United Kingdom with frozen meat for the Imperial Government. Of these eighteen have arrived at their destination, seven are en route, and seven more, viz., Athcnic, La Blanca, Delphic, Indrapura, Connthic, Somerset, and Kuahine, are at present loading in the Dominion. Tho meat shipped to date comprises: 11'1;168 quarters beef; 1,032,061 carcasses mutton; 1,637,897 carcasses lamb, . ana the total payments amount to '£3,012,110 10s. 9d. . ' • The meat in store at the ■ various works ou July 17 amounted to_ 2,033,444 fiOlb. carcasses, but with the increasing r.upply of tonnage available, this is now' being steadily reduced. Next month the Opawa Tainui, Rotorua, Niwarn, Malcarini, and Waimate will tnko tho loading berth in tho Dominion, to be followed by the Oufic, Whakarua, Otaki, Hawke's Bay, HuruJuii, Y/hakatane, Kuraara, lonic, Matatua, and Bengalla. Eleven further steamers arc expected for October loading. .
