The railway working account' for tlio financial .year 1915-16,.taken up to Juno 26. shows that tlie revenue on tlio 1239 niilss of North Island lines is £544,755 and the expenditure £367,861. For the corresponding period of the previous financial .year the revenue was £510,220, aild the expenditure £370,474. On tli6 South Island lines, the mileage of which is 1706, the revenue was £465,839, and the expenditure £320,502. In the similar period last year tlio South Island recepts were £466,124, and tlio expenditure £300,874. The expenditure per cent, of revenue is 67.53 in the North Island, and 68.80 in the Soutli Island.
