"GOING TO TAKE TURKEY"
'AUSTRALASIA AT THE DARDANELLES. ■ . The excellent spirit prevailing between the Australian and New Zealand troops at tho Dardanelles is well shown in the following letter from a Hoba'rt man, Sergeant C. Brazill:— "I suppose you. read about the attack on tlio Dardanelles. It was a great victory for the Australians and New Zealanders; but it was bad luck they got smashed up a, bit, with 800 killed and 2000 wounded; and they considered that was very light to what they expected. I told you in a former letter that there would bo a smash up, but the viotory surpassed all expectations. One officer here says it was fully as bravo a charge as that of the Light Brigade. He says that ' Australian and New Zealand troops names will never die in history after the gallant and steady charge they made. You 'can make up your mind that the Australians and New Zealanders aro joingto take Turkey, and that will be something for Now Zealand and Australia to be proud of. > ■ "Au Australian lieutenant of the Army Medical Corps was the first to gain the V.C. Hooray! Australia, 'It might be interesting to the priests in New Zealand, as well as in Tasmania, to know that Father M'Pheo was one of the bravest men in the attack on the Dardanelles. He led several bayonet charges, and also did excellent work in stretcher-bearing, carrying 111 the wounded. Our boys and the New Zealanders are-doing good work, and showing great courage. They like their officers, and speak very highly of Sir lan Hamilton. The boys hero want thwr chums asked to rally round the good old flag,- and oomo along in good numbers to take part in the glorious victory that is coming with the opening of tbe Dardanelles."
