FIRES
HOTEL DESTROYED. By Telegraph.—Press 'Association. Levin, July 28. Last ni"ht a few minutes before 8 o'clock the' Albion Hotel, Shannon, caught' fire. The building was completely destroyed, • also the furniture, with the exception of a piano and a few small articles. It is stated that the insurance is £500 on the furniture. Tho amount on the building is not known. Just before midnight of Tuesday the Gas Company's whistle sounded an alarm of fire at Miramar and the volunteer brigade turned out to a dwellill" in Rua Street, occupied by Mr. Camwell and owned by Mr. Paul, where tlio flames had a fairly good hold. Tho bmado did good work and got tlio fire" in hand after two front rooms had been destroyed. The rest of tlio building was damaged by smoke and water. Tho houso was insured in the Norwich Union Office for, £400, and the furnituro for £100 in the South Bristol.
