KARORI BOROUGH COUNCUL
The fortnightly meeting of the Karori Borough Council was held last night. The Mayor (Mr. B. G. H. Burn) presided, tho following councillors being present: Councillors W. G, Skogg, W. .Cooper, R. F. Poll, T. W. Lower, R. Fairo, L. P. Davies, and A. Hamilton.
Intimation was received, from the traffic manager of the tramways, that the council's request that the 7.22 p.m. car from Courtena-y Place run on Saturdays, he run every evening instead of Saturday only, would bo granted as from July 23. On tho recommendation of the "Works Committee*it was decided to leave the matter of a- complaint from a- ratepayer in respect to the state of tho footpaih in Standen Street in the hands of the borough engineer. Other recommendations word mado by the same committee regarding a number of applications received from- ratepayers in respect to . improvements to their properties. In his report to the council, the borough engineer (Mr. 6. W. Brigham) said that excellent stone was being obtained from the quarry. Other work in the borough had been hampered bv tho bad weather, slips 'having occurred on the Makara Hill Road, Homowood Avenue, and Evely Road, none of which, howover, was of any extent.' The report was adopted.
