Senator Pearce states that evidence had beeu obtained that the treatment of tho sick and wounded who recently returned to Australia on the steamer Kyarra revealed such a serious state of affairs that he has ordered the suspension of two officers, and an immediate inquiry. July .26, 10.40 p.m.) Melbourne, July 26. • Major Dowse, Assistant-Quartcrmas-ter-General for Victoria, and Colonel Cascaden, Principal Medical Officer, have ibeen suspended in connection with the Kyarra disclosures.
