Y.M.C.A. NATIONAL EXECUTIVE
The Y.M.C.A. National Executive (North Island section) Inet. last week. There were present: Messrs. H. W. Kersley (chairman), C. R. Smith, J. C. Port. W. C. Hemery, W. H. George, and A. Vamey. Reports wore presented on the Y.M.C.A.. work among the soldiers in Egypt. Tho ■ following urgent cablegram was received from Secretary* J. L. Hay : "Unprecedented opportunity finances / inadequate''' cable funds." I ■ It:.was, decided jto-cable'' £100 'immediately.,' Reports on- all hands testified to tbe_ admirable work the association is doing in tho land of the, Pharaohs. : '_ < • •• ; It' was reported that-Mr. E.' M. Ryan is working in tho camp at. Waikana'e,! and Mr. S. Parsonson 'at Tauherinikau, where the grandstand is being fitted l up for the troops. Chaplain Captain Williams is in charge of the Y.M.C.A. Hall at Trenthain, Arrangements were reported for serving' thomen at Rangi-Ot-U. : ' The secretary (Mr.'Vamey) reported the gift of a new piano from an,anonymous donor" at Napier,-and a bagatelle table from the Duuedin Y.M.C.A., for field service work; A lady forwarded a cheque for £5, in appreciation of the fact that her son had made use of the association's.halls in Egypt' for writing home. : ' In connection witlr the Egypt Fund, the. following, further . donations are. gratefully acknowledged Mr. W. H. George, £20; Mr. H. W. Kersley,: £5; Mr. C.; R. Smith, £5; Mr. D. A. Ewen, £10; Mr. H. Beauchamp, ; £5; Mrs. Howard, £5; Mr. odliu,.£2 2s. ; Mr. J. J. Wallace, £2 2s. • Mr. Vamey, Y.M.C.A., Wellington, North Island National' Secretary,' will be pleased to receive and acknowledge further donations on account of the -worC'amongst our New Zea-alnd troops in Egypt.
