FIRE AT WORSER BAY
. 9 ' POST OFFICE STORE DESTROYED. A disastrous firo occurred at Worser Bay on Saturday night, resulting in tho destruction of Henry James Wyatt's store and adjoining buildings. It appears that tho occupants had been away from home, and, when Mr. Wyatt returned about 8.15 p.m., ho put some fish in the frying : pan to cook. During his absence from the kitchen for a few' minutes the : fat boiled over, and the room was soon in flames. The Seatoun and Miramar' Volunteer Firo Brigades arrived on 'tho scene, and lent valuablo assistance, but the efforts to save tho building wore unavailing. The buildings destroyed comprise' the Post Offico' Store, public hall, three dressing-rooms, bakehouse, two store rooms, and an adjoining cottage. • Tho furniture and - stocky valued at £1500, aro covered by a policy for £050 with tho. Commercial Union Assurance Company! Particulars are not available as to tho insurance on the build- ■ ings, which jro owned by Messrs. Townsend and Paul.
