THE CALL FOR MEN.

Sir, —Under the heading "More Men" in The Dominion issue of July 22, it is reported that tho Minister of Dofence announced that it was not considered possible to increase our Expeditionary Force to 50,000 men, because wo could not hope to be able to keep that number in the field indefinitely, or words to that eifcct. I ask, do. you not think' that such an excuse exposes very weak war strategy on,the part of the Government? Even I, who have no military experience, _ can seo that such piecemeal tactics, if adopted by tho enemies of Germany, would play right into her hand. Germany and Austria are preparing ' with all their might to launch a crushing blow at our Allies. " It is Germany and Austria's only chance of success; therefore, in my mind, our best course is to send at once all the men wo can spare and efficiently equip. It is only force, and greater force than that of. our enemies, that caa gain us the victory we strive for—l am, etc., AT 'EM; BOYS, July 22/1915. r. :

An auction sale of unclaimed dogs will bo held at tho Corporation yards, Clyde Quay, at 2.15 p.m. to-day.
