GERMAN OFFICIAL COMMUNIQUE.

A German pftowl communique states:—"We broke the Russian lino on tlie front, east of Rosijeny, and the enemy is falling back; we also captured three positions south of Mariampol, on the Glowno Eoad. The Landjvehr's attacks north of Novogorod were completely successful, two thousand being taken prieonor. _ "We took five hundred prisoners after storming a strong- outwork at Roshan. The enemy offered an obstinate resistance with hastily-gathered' troops on the bridgeheads at Roshan, Pultuck, and Novo Georgievsk. The Russian loses were heavy; we took prisoner one thousand. "Under the pressure of our trqops, who have been reinforced on all sides the Russians have begun to give up fortified positions west of Grondec. ' . . "General von Woyrsch's troops have reached an advanced bridgehead position south of Ivangorod. Fighting continues."

An Austrian official communique states"The enemv has taken up a new stand south of the Cholm-Lublin-Ivangorod railway. Despite a stubborn resistance we penetrated the line at several points. "The. Archduke Joseph's army encountered a strong resistance, and won positions on both banks of the Borzechow, which the Siberians stubbornly defended. We took prisoner sis thousand."
