Tho services of Drs. Deck and Heivin have been engaged for tho Wellington Hospital staff, vice Drs. Myers and Hasiott, who liave resigned. Dr. A. Norman Jones and Mr. Lindo Levien have been appointed dental surgeons on the honorary staff of tho Hospital. Dental Nurse Hmigorford has been appointed a full-time nurse at a salary of £120 per annum as from July 12.

The Rev. A. Mitchell, of Lyttelton, has been appointed Methodist chaplain to the Seventh Reinforcements. Cap-tain-Chaplain Mitchell has been, closely associated with the volunteer and Territorial Forces of the Dominion for the last ten years, and. has always been most popular with officers and men. Ho volunteered for service some months ago. —Press Association.

Word has been received in Stratford that Mr. Dudley Cameron, the wellknown representative footballer, is in a very serious condition at tho Cambridge Sanatorium. Mr. _ Cameron returned from Egypt some timo ago as an invalid, and was discharged as such from tho Forces.

Mr. and Miss Endean, of Auckland, leave for Sydney by the Moeraki today. Mr. Endean is the father of Mr. Arthur Endeaii, who was recently killed in the Dardanelles campaign.

Mr. James Ames, the City Valuer, is confined to his bed with a severe cold. It will be at least a week before he will bo able to resume his duties.

News has been received in Wellington of the death at Bathurst of Mr. M'Hattie. who was for over twenty years in the office of the Registrar-Gen-eral iu Wellington. He retired from the Government service some month's ago, and settled in Bathurst, . haviiig been in ill-health somo time before leaving Wellington. The late Sir. M'Hattie was the son of the late Dr. jl'Hattie, of Bathurst. He leaves a widow and one daughter (Mrs. Warwick Weston).

At yesterday's meeting of the Hospital and Charitable Aid Board, "Dr. Shand's name was added to the "st of honorary surgeons.

The resignation of Dr. 11. 0. Whyte as honorary physician to tlio Hospital was received at yesterday's meeting of the Hospital and Charitable Aid Board. The resignation, occasioned l)y Dr. AYliyto's decision to place his services at the disposal of the R.A.M.C. at Home, was accepted with regret.

When out visiting on Tuesday, the Rev. J. G. Chapman, of the Taranaki Street Methodist Church, had the misfortune to slip down • some steps and sprain his aulclo. He hopes to be able to attend to his duties on Sunday next.

Tlio Rev. Father Finnerty, until recently of St. Mary's parish, Nelson, lias been appointed to St. Anne s, Wellington South. Ho lias not enjoyed the best of health of late, and it is hoped that he will benefit by hemg relieved of tlic lieavv travelling by work in a scattered district. Father Finnerty is to be succeeded in Nelson by the Rev. Father Bartley, S.M. Born in Australia, Father Bartley studied at St. Mary's, Meeanee, for five years, after which he joined the teaching staft of St. Patrick's College, Wellington, where ho has been engaged for eoms vears up to the present tune. He kept his terms at-Victoria Col'ege, and took Ms M.A. degree, showing brilliancy, especially in mental science. Tlio scarcity of priests due-to the demands made bv the war has caused the staff of St. Patrick's College to be drawn upon to meet the parochial needs of the Church.

The Hospital Committee of the Wellington Hospital and Charitable Aid Board reported yesterday that the following nurses have _ passed their final examination:— Nurses Daniel, Hughes, Thorntou, Suggitt, Wallace, Christie, Aitken, Grengor and Gulliner. Those who passed the Nurses' State Examination ivero Nurses Hughes and Christie (with credit), Daniel, Burt, Haliburton, Thornton, Suggitt, Wallace, Aitken, Grengor, and Leila Gray.

On leaving tlio employ of the Wellington Gas Company, Mr. F. Shand, of the office staff, was the recipient of a case of pipes in appreciation of his services. Mr. Shand has entered his father's business.

Mr. Bert Royle, representative in New Zealand for J. C. Williamson, Ltd., is at present suffering, from a severe attack of pleurisy for which lie is benig treated in a private hospital. .

The Colonial Auxiliary Forces' longservice medal lias been awarded Sergt.-. Major (Warrant Officer) Joseph Hudson Hanson, No. 2 Field Ambulance, whose total service exceeds 20 years in length.

At the monthly meeting of the Hospital and Charitable Aid Board yesterday it was decided that the resignations of • Sister A. Bi-oadbclt, submatron Victoria Home, next Charge Sister M. Hobbs (left in Hospital Ship], Junior Nurse Haybittle, and Dr. \\. Youn", honorary Surgeon, be accepted with regret, and that Senior Nurse Welch (whoso services have been accepted by the Military authorities) ba granted extended leave of absence.
