CASE BEFORE A FULL BENCH

In the Supreme Court yesterday, before a Full Bench, comprising His Honour Mr. Justice Edwards, His Honour. Mr. Justice Cooper, and His Honour Mr. Justice Chapman, the hearing was concluded of the appeal by Alexander Penman, mine manager for the Taupiri Collieries Company, Ltd., against his conviction'for having failed to have all parts of Ralph's mine at Huntly inspected daily, and that he in consequence failed to see that the working of the mine was carried on with aIJ reasonable provisions for tho safety of the persons employed therein. Mr. C. P. Slierrett, ■ K.C., with him Mr. Tunics (Auckland), appeared for the appellant, while the Solicitor-Gen-eral (Mr. J. W; Salmond, K.C.), with him >Mr. H. Gillies (Crown Solicitor, Hamilton) appeared for the Crown. I Decision was reserved.
