In the morning the infantry advancc, crawling with bags of earth on their hacks, as a protection from shells, and when fchey bait the bags form a parapet, whence they spring at tho enemy with their bayonets. The Italians have thus carried live miles of entrenchments suffering considerably, but inflicting much heavier losses on the Anstrians' who have lost ten thousand in the Carnic battle on Sunday. AUSTRIAN OFFICIAL COMMUNIQUE. Amsterdam, Jul}* ,20. An Austrian report states: —"The Italians vehemently attaciscd in the Gorz (Gorizia) region, along the entire border of the plateau. There was obstinate hand-to-hand lighting all night long. The enemy was repulsed after reaching our advanced trenches. Fighting was renewed this morning.
