BULLYING RUMANIA
$ VIOLENT PRESS CAMPAIGN CERMANY'S ADVICE TO THE BALKANS. By Telegraph—Press Association-Coryrijlit ("Times" and Sydney "Sun" services.) London, July 16. The German Foreign Olfico lias opened a violent- Press campaign for the benefit of tlio Balkans, especially Rumania.- It is asserted that Russia and Britain liavo Jong agreed on a division of the war spoils, and that their scheme would bo fatal to all other interested Powers. Russia, it is said, is to have a free hand in the whole • l f the Balkans, Hungary, and Galicia, and possession of the Black Sea coast as far as the Bosphorus, also Constantinople, Thrace, and Armenia, England is to bo supreme in Asia Minor, Syria, Mesopotamia, and Arabia. Turkey is to become an Anglo-Russian protectorate. Franco and Italy are to receive minor compensations. Germany urges tho Balkans, Rumania particularly, to come to ail immediate decision, and meet tho urgent demands of Germany. The "Times" advises Rumania not to listen to the German Foroigin Office Press campaign. It believes that Rumania will not bo deceived or intimidated by, German, bullying. AUSTRIAN THREATS. TO CLOSE RUMANIAN FRONTIER. London, July 16. The "Daily News" correspondent at Rome says: "There is further bullying of Rumania. Austria threatens to close tlie frontier unless, tho restrictions on Austro-German exports destined for l Turkey are removed. Rumania replies that only, contraband is being stopped. •;
