Private "W. Smith," 'Auckland-Bat-talion, whose namo appears as luiving died of wounds, is Private Con. Dooliiig, son of Mr. and Mrs. 0. Dooling, of Clifford Street, Gisborne. The young soldier, wlip was 20 years of ago, was opposed to the compulsory military training, but when in Auckland the call came to him to serve his country. Thinking he Would be prevented from going to the front if it was known that lie liad been evading military service, ho I registered under an assumed name. He was a cook by trade and intended' joining the Auckland contingent in that capacity, but oil reaching Wellington ho enlisted in tho infantry, and was drafted to tho Auckland IJattalion of the Third Reinforcements, Corporal Claude Street, of the Wellington Infantry, who is wounded for tho second time, ia tho third son of Mr. Henry Street, of Sumnor, and is in his 24th year. _ He was born and educated in Taranaki, aad previous to enlisting was employed in joinery works at Hawera, where Jig is well known. He left with tho Main Expeditionary Force, and was wounded at the Dardanelles. His parents have received advice from the Minister of Defcnco that .their son had been wounded a second time, this being the first intimation they have received of his having recovered from the first wound.
