X SERIOUS OFFENCE,

Chrlstchurch, July 14. In the Court, Arthur Challinor, oharg<d with selling underweight bread, pleaded guilty. The Magistrate (Mr., Bishop) said the offenco was serious, especially when consumers..had to pay such high prices for food. He fined defendant £5 and costs.
Philip Godfrey, storekeeper similarly charged was fined 20s. the Magistrate remarking that, it was the storekeeper's duty to weigh bread- bought from a bakor. . . . i
