.- ' » MONTHLY MEETING OF COUNCIL. The monthly meeting of tho Hutt Comity Council was held yesterday. There were present: Councillors W. j. Howell {in the chair), J. Wakeham, M. W. Welch, T. Edwards, W. Gallaway, and J. Whiteman. ' It was resolved to have the proposed Wainui-o-mata Bridge constructed by day labour, the cost .not to exceed £850. Mr. Sykes was appointed supervisor of the work. By way of special order a resolution was passed relative to tlio loan proposals in respect of a Inait of '£500 f° r the purpose of constructing tho Wainui-o-mata Bridge. It was decided to strike a.rate of Id. in tho & in the Epuni, Horokiwi,; and Miingaroa Ridings, and ljd. in tho £1 in the Wainui-o-mata and Whareroa Ridings.' . This resolution will' be confirmed at next meeting.. . - The,estimates and receipts for tho .year were discussed, and were adopted,subject to ccrtain modifications. _ Authority was received from the Public Works Department to proceed With the expenditure of Pukonia-Paekakariki grant of; £100, and of tho Paekakariki/grant of £51'(£ for £)." . The following applications: for renewals 'of slaughterhouse' licenses were' granted:—Gadsby Brofe., ;A. and ,\Y. Keys, Hooper Bros., and A. Vella. In his . monthly report the Inspector of Works_ (Mr. J. w. Cudby) said that continuation of metalling in th« various ridings had been the chief work. Four culverts had been renewed in various parts of the country. Nineteen .hundred' feet of birch decking had been delivered for redecking the bridge over the Mungaroa River] on East Road. The report' went on to detail various other roads attended to. The report was adopted. • '
