CAMP SITES.
: Sir,—Apropos of the wiro sent to' Prime Minister pointing out the suihw bility of Tapawea as a site for tie Re-i inforcement camp; for the South Island.' .'lll view of the splendid weather ana dry climate appertaining to tlie district mentioned, the Government would do' well to give the :suggestion consideration. It may bo mentioned that during the lato, annual camps held at Tapawea from March 29 up till tho end of April there was (if my memory serves ma right) only two days of wet weather, and -these days "the rain was in veryi' mild form. ' Taken all round; the Tapa* wea site is an .ideal camping-ground.. Good spring water is to.bo had in abun< dance. Fine iiat country for mounted and foot-drill work, and. hiJL country, available for that class of training, also every facility for battery work. The climate of.Tapawea is an ideal one, and I feel sure that if any place in New, Zealand would, from climatic conditions,' prevent sickness; this part of'the Nelson' district would do so. Outside of the facilities mentioned,' Tapawea is most suitable, owing to the fact that the camp ground is/ within half a niile of the railway station; and is most suitable for entraining, etc.— 1 l am, etc., : . TERRITORIAL. Nelson, July 10, 1915.
