Mrs. _ Nelson Hobson (formerly Miss Rita Simpson, of Wellington), whose husband has joined the R.FiA., is now qualifying for Red Cross work. Sir James Mills, of Dunedin, and his son, Lieutenant James Mills, who was slightly wounded at the front, made a special journey to Birmingham to visit the New Zealand wounded on Saturday. >' Mr; • and Mrs. F. 'Waldegrave and Mrs. 5... N. and Miss, Betty Fitzherbert, of Wellington,.and Miss M'Rae, of Palmerston North, spent a week in Paris on their way over, and are now in London. .

Mr. G. S. Bogle, of Napier, who came over with;the first Canadian Contingent as a sapper in the Engineers, is now a lieutenant in the Royal Engineers. After eight strenuous weeks of soldiering at 1 the Royal Engineers' headquarters at Chatham, Mr. Bogle, who is an engineer-by profession, obtained permission to :'sit for and. was successful ill obtains the A;M.I.C;E. degree.. He has now been posted to. the Engineers_ of tho Scottish Division (Kitchener's First Army), and is at present at Bordon. Mr. and Mrs. A. K. Watson had a, large party ,of, guests at "Rockwood," Waiton-on-Thames, for the Whit'sun week-end, 7 amongst them a' number of New, Zealanders—Mr. C. E. Dorrne, Mr. and Mrs. Erie Curtis (rie© Dawson; of Dunedin), Mr. F. Waldegrave, Mrs. Atkinson.. Mrsl and Miss Betty. Fitzherbert. and Miss M'Rae.
