GREAT FIRES IN GERMANY

Tlia "Tageblatt" states that'a . gTeat turf fire is raging at Sclieweges, near Osnabrueck (in Hanover). Already ten thousand tons of turf havo been destroyed. Forest fires, extending for many kilometres, aro burning between Witniohenau and Zeisholis, in Saxony, .and.several villages are threatened. Tito inhabitants havo evacuated' the forest belonging to tlio Convent of Morgenstcrn, which was completely destroyed. Military trench-digging_ has been resorted to in order to rostrict the conflagration. ■
