FEDERATION OF FARMERS' CO-OP. ASSOCIATION
/At the conference of Farmers' . Cooperative Associations held in Christchurch last week it was decided to establish a federation of the ten associations represented. The new " body will be known as the Farmers' 'Co-operative AVholesale Federation of New Zealand [ Ltd.j and in_ the meantime its head office will be in Ghristchurch. The concerns entering- the federation are the Auckland Farmers' Union, Whangarei; Hawke's Bay Fanners' Co-operative Association, Napier; Farmers' Auctioneering Co., Hamilton: Farmers' Co-opera-tive Organisation Society, Hawera; New Zealand Farmers' Co-operative Distributing Company, Ltd., Wellington; New Zealand Farmers' Co-operative Assoeiatioiij Cliristchurcli,; Canterbury Farmers' Co-operative Association, Timaru; North Otago Farmers' Co-operative Association, Oamarii; Otago Farmers' Co-opera-tive Association, Dunedin; Southland Farmers' Co-operative Association, Gore. The Memorandum and Articles of Association were, adopted, and provisional directors elected as follows:—Messrs. •A. E.' Crane ■ (Whangarei), 'H. :S. Hawkins Geo. Kelly; (Napier),:. A;: Leigh Hunt ; (Wellington), J. A. Pannettj and B. W. Kelph (Christchurch), J. Talbot and J P. Newman (Timaru), and Andrew Todd (Dunedin)." This movement marks epoch in the history of : the co-operative mo ment in the.: Dominion, ..and ■ great' economies are, expected by. collective buying in the' markets of the world, as well as other substantial benefits by the closer working of the several associations.-The initial capital was fixed at £100,000.,
