UNDER GOVERNMENT CONTROL By Telegraph—Press Association—Oopyrigjit New York, July 8. The United States Government ' lias taken over controLof,'the. Sayville wiro-~ less station.' A suspicion 'exists that German spies aro using a codo to "inform Berlin' regarding developments of military importance.;. A message from Washington received early in the'month stated:—-The Government is contemplating, placing .'the Sayvillo wireless station under 'American control.., It is believed that the movements of. British and Franch TransAtlantic shipping' aro, being notified to tho 'German Admiralty." A cable from New York added:—"The New York 'Journal' states'that Count Bernstorff has been using the Sayvillo wireless station' as an adjunct to his spy system. The 'Journal' has. been collecting messages'for "months', and has handed the authorities copies'of every, line transmitted or received,, at ' Sayvillo during Juno. Tho messages provo that Count Bernstorff porsistently Pooled tho United States Government arid the censofs. He furnished tho United States with a falso translation of .the code used. • Another prolific Svay'of sending coded messages was to make ostensible requests for. repeats containing masses of figures with secret meanings. These pretended repeats' were not reported to the United States Government."
The Sayvillo wireless station is on Long Island. New York, and was controlled by the Atlantic Communication. Company.' ... ... . . -
