AN OLD SWAMP
Mr William Beetham, of Masterton, who lived in the Hutt district about sixty years ago, states (says our Masterton correspondent)' that tho site of the'Trentham camp was formerly covered in black birch, and: was a swamp. Tho subsoil renders drainage exceedingly difficult, and, in his opinion, it is a mistake to retain the camp at Trenthaw. ■ \ 1
