' A suggestion was made in. the House of Representatives yesterday afternoon that a considerable portion of tlio equipment of the New Zealand Hospital Ship was made in Germany. . Mr. R. Fletcher asked whether it was a fact tliat' some of, the bedding on the Malie'no had been mado in Germany. (Laughter.) He hold up a tag taken offone of tie articles, which he said bore the inscription, .''Made abroad." This was in accord with the usual practice of German manufacturers. He ' conteJidect that money, donated by the people toward the equipment of the' vessel 'should not have been spent on German, goods. The Hon. J. Men said- that so far as he knew all the equipment of the ship was made in New Zealand. Mr. Payne: Here is:another tag. I tool: it off a blanket on the ship this rooming. ... ... . The Hon. J. Allen, after examining* one of the tags, said: "These tags are taken off quilts, and wo'don't make quilts in New Zealand. Thoy are, as the tags say, 'Made abroad.''' , Mr. Payne: This is oIF coloured blanI kots.
