INSURANCE OF SOLDIERS
NO GOVERNMENT SUBVENTION. Reference tb tho fact that certain insurance companies aro charging' additional. war risks rates on life policies of soldiers going to the front was made in a question by Mr. IF. J.- H. Okey to the Prime Minister in the House yesterday. Mr. Okey addressed this question to the Government: "Whether their attention has been drawn to the fact that the different life insurance companies doing business in the Dominion are charging an extra 5 per cent, on all policies taken out by those enlisting and going to the front; since the commencement of tho war as; a war risk'; and whether, in order -to_ encourage those enlisting to insure their lives prior to leaving tho Dominion, they will con-;, sider the advisability of the Government paying the amount charged for war risk." Tlie Right Hon, Mr. Massev (Prime Minister) replied: "The contributions suggested by the honourable gentleman would be additional to provisions <to be proposed in the Pensions Act.
