TRENTHAM CAMP SITE
SHOULD ANOTHER BE CHOSEN? A question by Mr. W; H. Field regarding the possibility of establishing a permanent military camp on some more suitable site than Trentham was answered by the Defence Minister in the House yesterday.'. ' ; • ■ Mr. Field asked whether'the Government would, ■■ before- -spending more money in permanent improvements on the present Trentham Camp site, take steps, to discover, if possible,/ a more suitable site, witli drier, warmer, and generally healthier conditions,- for tho purpose of a permanent, central camp for tho Dominion, The Hon. J. Allen replied as follows:! The present site at Trentham is considered healthy. .It /possesses . a gravel subsoil, and many other advantages which-make it more suitable as a camp for training our Expeditionary Forces.
