Terrific fighting is going on on the Carso t Plateau, and is developing favourably to the Italians, who have advanced six miles from ,the margin, of the tableland towards the Vipacco Volley, where the enemy, in considerable force, occupy three successive parallel positions along rows of high hills, on a front of three miles. The dobatablo ground, however, extends backwards for twenty miles. . The whole region abounds in wonderful grottos, insidious tarns (mountain lakes), and the' spongy subsoil makes tko district a,vast land sea, islanded by rooks and mountains. The Italian advance is assisted by admirable airship and artiilery work which makes the infantry attacks invariably successful. ' The Italian Left, in £lie presence of King Victor Emanuel, has reached the height of the crisis, capturing a battery and taking prisoner sis hundred of the enemy. " ; SUCCESSFUL 'ACTIONS BY ITALIAN AIRSHIPS.. The High Commissioner reports:— • London, July 6, 1.20 p.m. "On Sunday night an Italian'dirigible effectively bombarded the enemy encampments, the environs of Dobero, and the Dornbergj-Paravicina railway junction, damaging the line arid station at Paravicina. Airships attacked, but the dirigible returned safely."- ' ' AUSTRIAN OFFICIAL COMMUNIQUE. / (Rec. July 7, 8.40 p.m.) >, _ / London, July 7. . An Austrian official report states"Fighting 1 ill the Gorizia district developed yesterday into a great battle, as tho result of an attack by the Third Italian Army, including four army corps, which advanced under the protectionof formidable, artillery fire against our front from the bridgehead at Gorizia to the sea. The attacks were completely repulsed, the enemy suffering terrible losses." ,
