I "'A " ' •' '•> I 'A' copy of a new contract for the "supply of . ammunition to the New Zear land Government, which the Government has recently entered into with .the Colonial Ammunition . Companyj (Ltd., of' Auckland,: .was - laid onthe •'table of the. Houso yesterday. . The agreement was mado on. May 18 last, • and the new contract is to last for a period of fifteen years from January 1 next. The company agrees to manufacture email arms 'ammunition within the Domonion in such quantities/and at such intervals as may be required, provided that it shall not ho bound, to . maintain a monthly supply of more .. than eight hundred thousand rounds of .303 service 'ball ammunition, snd one 'hundred and five thousand rounds of >.303 blank ammunition. Tho price, to ■ foe paid is to be equal to the current iWar Office, price, plus tlie ordinary Imperial departmental charges upon the •same, as packed and delivered at "Wool■wich, increased by a sum at the rate . of 15 per cent, to cover profit, insurance,, and other, charges of delivery in j New Zealand. ;In no case shall the price be less .than' £5 15s. per thousand rounds • of. ball ammunition, of. •less than £3 ■ 25.. 6d.. per • thousand. ■rounds for blank ammunition. The minimum quantity-, which tho Government, shall purchase! from the company annually, shall be 9,600,000 rounds.-of ball, and 1,250,000 rounds of blank ammunition. All duty paid by the company on machinery; and stores imiported for the manufacture of ammuni:tipn- shall, be' refunded.
