Justice Chapman has reooived from Major In§, of the Queen's Bays, a letter concerning the death of his son, containing tlia following account of the circumstances"l >am very sorry to have to tell you that your son, G. 11. Chapman, was killed in action on May 13. east, of Ypres. We yero in the trenches .and) under a very severe sholl fire. Your son was most gallantly tittending to the. wounded when a shell killed him instantly; a? well as two man who were .standing by hini. I cannot toll you what a loss lie is to the regiment; he had only been with us two months, but, was most popular with oflicers and men.: Please accept the synv pat-hy of the entire regiment with' your great loss, and you hare the great consolution that he * died . doing : his duty very gallantly, as a sold'er should. The body is buried in the grounds of a chateau near Ypres, within the British lines. ■ .
