ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES
; KILLED BY A' GUN EXPLOSION. (By Telegraph.—'Press Association.) Auckland, July 5. - According to a telegram received by the 'Superintendent of Police from the constable at Aratapu, Northern Wairoa, a: youth of .16, named Robert Gibson, was fatally shot while out shooting in a punt on tho River. His gun, which had: been laid on a seat, fell off EUid exploded, ;the charge shattering one of Gibson's legs. Ho was taken in- a' launch to\ the To Kopuru Hospital, a distance of..thirty ! miles, and died there at 2 o'clock this morning. SEVERELY SCALDED'. ' Through the upsetting of ,a kettle of boiling water.: on Saturday, last, Master Frankio Birss, sou of Mr. and Mrs. A. Birss, of Belvedere Street; was severely scalded;' over one side of his face and body.' 'l'he littlo fellow was putting his boots on in front of the fire, when ho accidentally lipset the kettle,- with tho above result.
