The Workers' Educational; 'Association, which was launched about Christmas time by a campaign through tho Dominion of two delegates from Sydney, is now fairly on its .legs. Tho Joint Committee of. representatives. . of- tlio University and the workers was set up some time ago, and' from this again strong siib-committees have been selected, comprising .financial,: educational, propaganda, and Press committees. According to the constitution" of the parent body, which has been running in England for some ten j'ears, and now has a membership of over - 50.000, a tutorial class .proper must consist of not fewer than 20 students, and not more than 30. These requirements have already been complied with in two in-, stances in' the Wellington Association, tutorial' classes.. being established in electricity and economics, and a second economic class is in the course of tion. In addition to these, preliminary classes are being carried on by the association in English and ■ psychology, and it is expected to form another of these in economics in Petone, whero a successful meeting was held'lastVweek., The classes meet for two hours, , the first hour being the lecture, the second /being discussion by the class. Arrangements are being made to secure per-, manent rooms for carrying on the work in Wellington, but meantime the classes are beiug -held'.as' under:—Electricity, under Professor" Marsdori, at Victoria College, Tuesday evenings; economics, Mr. jV B. Coad, M.A.. Wednesday evenings, Te Ai-o School. The- text-book used by the economies class is ''Tho Economic Organisation of England,!' by Professor W.'J. Ashley, of Birmingham, the latest and • most up-to-date work on the subject. Very -rapid proKress has been made by tho 1 English, class during the last couple of weeks, tho membership having jumped up from 12 to 23, so that it will soon be aii established tutorial class, and take up the study, of English literature.- ..
