' •' v ■ ■ THREE MOTOR ACCIDENTS. j ' ! A!-rather nasty smash occurred on the Hutt Road at Kaiwarra between '; noon and 1 p.m. yesterday, between a Ford car. driven by a visitor to Wel- \ Jington, and a motor-cycle and side-car. i 'It appears that the ca,r was travelling northwards from the city; and through \ swerving slighiJy or skidding, it is said to havo veered into ■ the track of tho i -motor-cycle, that was travelling in : tbe ! opposite direction. Tho motor-car ■ was | overturned, and. its occupants thrown j out, and one, ' a young lady, had a small, bono, in one of her arms broken. The car. had the wind-screen smashed, one of tho lamps broken, and tho running gear was so knocked about that ' the front axle and wheels had to be 'dismantled in' order thatithe car could be towed back to town.: The marvellous part of the accident was the small injury sustained by the motor-cycle (a "Matchless"), which only had the. two front forks snapped • off at the base.: Both tho car and cycle were brought into the A.B.C, Garage, on Lambton : Quay. ; . An Overland car, from J, E. Fitzger- ' aid's garage, lost .a. wheel when travel- ' ling : . along the Hutt Read between 5 , p.m.. and 6 p.m. yesterday. The oc- . cupant, Mr. J.. M.. Ferguson 1 , late of ' . the Upper Hutt, escaped with a shaking. The car, which was not seriously damaged, was towed into town by a ( ear from the A.B.C. Garage. Loo Ohoo, a Chinese visitor from Auckland, who is said to havo been wandering- rather aimlessly about the middle of Adelaide Road at the-John Street junction, was knocked down by '.® motor-car at about midday on Sat-" . -urday. The accident was observed by' Superintendent Ellison, of the police, who, finding the man to be unconscious, had him removed at. once to the Hos- ' pital, where it was found that he had Tecoived a nasty bump on the head and a bruising. He recovered consciousness v during the afternoon, and last night Tv'as reported to bo progressing satisfactorily towards recovery. . | TRAMCAR (ACCIDENTS.' Edward George, a , labourer,, who "resides at Ambrose Terrace, in attempting to board a tramcar in Upper Willis Street, near the To Aro Hotel, fell back on to tie road and sustained a fractured ; ' shoulder at about 4.45" p.m. on Saturday." The building was insured in the State Office for £100, and tlio contents for £120 in tlie Royal Exchange Office.
