THAT £19,000 FOR A PHOTOGRAPH. Fuller details are supplied by our Featherstoii correspondent of the bidding for the enlarged photograph of Trentbam Camp put up for sale at the conclusion of the patriotic entertainment at Featherstoii on Thursday night. No less than twelve £1000 offers were received, as under;—< "William Hume £1000 ' George Hume £1000 J. 0. Bidwill £1000 J. 0. Bidwill £1000 Mrs. Jas., Donald ,£IOOO D. H.'S. A Uiddiford £1000 Geo. Sir "Walter Buchanan, M.L.C. £1000 Bids of £500 each were received from: The "Wairarapa Racing Club, Messrs. John Martin, W. J. v Martin, Beneficiaries in Matawliero Estate (and Mrs. M'Master).' OVER £50,000 FOR THE WOUNDED. (By Teleeraph.—Special OorrispoiidonM Masterton, July 2. Mr. C., E. Cockburn Hood, of Masterton, aud Mr. A. U. Miles, of Wellington, have collected the sum of over £20 to provide tobacco for the troops at the front. This was dispatched' oy a cablegram to-day.
A vigorous canvas of the Wairarapa for funds for the wounded soldiers continues to bo prosecuted. A sum of over £50,000 has already been subscribed for the fund, but this will be substantially increased.
