HIS MAJESTY'S THEATRE. Thero will ljo a niatinco at His Majesty's Theatre at 2.30 ,p.m. to-day, when tho vaudevillo programme, which has beon running during tho week, will be given. Tho enthusiastic reception which has been extended, to Miss Dorothy Harris every evening should result in a packed liouso this afternoon, and again this evening. Miss Harris has been described rather, aptly as tlio queen of ragtime, and certainly it would be rather hard to namo lier superior in the singing of ragtime songs. Sho has a sweot voice" and a refined stylo, and therein lies lior success. Excellent items are also contributed to tho current programmo by soveral other talented artiste. THE KING'S THEATRE. The matinee to-day, and to-night's performance, wiil seo the last exliibitions of that plcasinc: drama "Lil o' liondon," together. with 'tho excellent supporting programme.•"THOU SHALT NOT KILL."- ■ On Monday the King's will screen a picture play .which is said to be quite, diiferent to any yet seen. It is produced by D. AY. Griffith, described as the greatest picture director in the world. "Thou Shalt Not Kill," or "Tho Avenging Conscience," is a drama of the mind, completely visualised throughout, and with a thoroughly connected story._ Though it deals with the penance inflicted upon a murderer by liis own conscience, this penance is 60 personified that the' result is a very graphic narrative. • This is brought about by tho use of some extraordinary photographio effects, which show the dead man returning to haunt the living murderer, who imagines, among other things; that he can hear the heart of tho dead man still beating. "Thou Shalt Not Kill" fas suggested by Edgar Allan Poe's i'arnous story, "Tho Telltale Heart" (which contains tho idea of the murderer listening to tlie heart-beats of the man he killed) and by Job's famous poem of "Annabel Leo."- ■ . EVERYBODY'S THEATRE. 'Again last ovening the various sessions of the continuous picture show at Everybody's Theatre wero crowdcd. Tho chief attraction during the week has been- the film showing _ "Our Troops in ®g)'Pt," . prior to- their departure for tho Gallipoli Peninsula. There are several good items in support, notably a Keystone comedy, with Charles Murray playing lead; . A now programmo will be introduced on Monday, when the feature films wiil ho a 'N'ordisk circus drama "Children of the Circus," and a Koystone comedy, "Mabel and Fatty's Married Life." . Tho "Children of tho Circus" is reminiscent, of tho many good circus studies shown in the past, is thrilling and exciting. Tho principal scenes were enacted at the permanent circus arena at Copenhagen, and the animal acts aro said to be sensational. 'A Zeppelin Raid on. Pal-is" •is another striking film, and the "Gaumont Graphic",completes a first-class programme. THE EMPRESS. Very large crowds attended the popular Empress Theatre throughout yesterday. That thrilling melodrama by "Reliance," "The God,"- just hits the taste of patrons. The current Keystone comedy, "Wilful Ambrose," is not only a, genuinely funny laugh-pro-ducer, but some of the comical tricks introduced are distinctly clever, notably "the hat trick." "Tho Good in Him" (liUbiii drama), "In tho French Lines at Rheims," and the Australian Gazette, go to complete an excellent programme, which finishes to-night. Hon-. day's now list Las as-its special attraction Kalem's melodramatic star drama of tho 'exciting detectivo order, "Tho Mystery, of :the Dance Hall," which deals .with tho abduction of an heiress, a demand for £5000 as ransom, with as the alternative! The female detective "Ruth" is seen gripping the clues and tracking the villains to the dancing den, where the human spider holds " the heroine-in his web. Ruth's beauty fascinates the villain, and' she uses all her woman's aits and wiles to subdue him.* After exciting passages justice comes at last. THE CHERNIAVSKYS. The farewell visit of the Cherniavsk'ys is to take place on July 7, 8, and 10. In August next they sail for America to commence their Canadian and American tour. Music-lovers will be glad to have another opportunity of - hearing these artists in solo and concerted pieces. It will be remembered ,what an excellent reception was given them when they appeared iu the Town Hall on their last visit. The southern -tour of the three young Russians is stated to havo been a wholly satisfactory one. _ They were playing in Blenheim last night, and will have a short rest before opening in Wellington. The Universal Film Supply Company, Manners Street, Wellington, announces to the moving-picture showmen that it has completed arrangements for the immediate issue of two-reel exclusive A.B. dramas every week. The company also states that these "feature" films are fully, protected, so that showmen can be assured that these films cannot' be forestalled by duplicate copies.
