Gilford Bowerii, and the Bench was occupied-for'tho hearing by Their Honours the, Chief Justico (Sir Robert Stout), Mr: Justice Dcnniston, Mr. Justico Sim, Mr. Justico Hosking, and Mr. Justice Stringer. ' The Solicitor-General (Mr. J. ,W. Salmond, K.C.) appeared for the Crown; while Mr. 3i\ Von Haast appeared for tho; prisoner. From tho case as stated by His Honour, it appeared that tho prisoner was charged with, counselling a woman ,to submit 'to. treatment for the purpose of procuring'ller miscarriage, and the jury returned a verdict of guilty .on that count. Tliero was no 'evidence before tho Court as to tho woman Having actually submitted to any. treatment whatever, and the question arose as to whether any. offence was disclosed in the charge against ,Bowern. His Honour reserved this question ahdeertain others for the-decision'of the Court of Appeal. ' "After hearing ;.legal argument yesterday/the. Court reserved decision.
