The "Daily Post," discussing the rise in spelter, says that German intrigues have been going on to increase tlio prices and embarrass the Entente Powers and also induce the United States Government to prohibit tlie exportation of spelter. The paper adds;—" Something of the same kind has been going on in respect to lead. /When America, the largest producer of' lead, for days at a time has been a buyer of unlimited' quantities, this operation excites suspicion, and -t3i© sooner the authorities examine the matter the better for the national interests." j
