NATIONAL RESERVE
THE DRILL COMPETITIONS. Units of the National Reserve in Wellington are taking a lively interest in the big drill competition that is being promoted by the-Wellington Patriotic Society, ana is to take place .on Saturday week (July 10).- So I'ar entries have been received (or liotith.v tiens to that effect have reached the secretary, Mr E. J. Colley) from tho Wellington East, Brooklyn, Island Bay, Tborndon and Wadestown, Uppr;r Hutt, Petone, Ngaio, and Wellington Central companies of the Reserve. Others who have not yet entered are reminded that entries close with Mr. Colley (Gray Street) to-morrow. Major Boss, Officer Commanding the Fifth Regiment, will act as judge. Tho word of the command in the. drill contest is to be 6poken by the noncommissioned officer appointed by each company. This, and other details, were_ explained thoroughly to non-com-missioned officers by Major Ross at a meeting held in the Buckle Street Drill Hall on Wednesday evening, THE MEDICAL CORPS. The first meeting of ' the Medical Corps of the National Reserve was held in Bethune's auction rooms last evening. Twenty-two members answered the roll-call. Captain Young, Principal Medical Officer of the Reserve,, was present. The qualification for membership is the possession of a St. John Ambulance certificate or certificate of like value. ' _ A good muster of B Company (Wellington East) of the Reserve paraded at Clyde Quay School grounds _ last evening, and marched to the Basin Reservo, where drill was hold.
