There were.32 births, 14 marriages, and 4 deaths in Hastings last month. The Mayor of Hastings, Mr. W. Hart, leaves for Wellington to-morrow to attend the conference of Mayors. John James Downey, labourer,; of Hastings, has filed a petition in bankruptcy. The Hawke's Bay Education Board has made the following appointments: —Miss Sheppard, Napier West; Miss Ross, Moharahara West; Miss Player, Patutahi: Miss Strong, TelTapara; Miss M'Murray, Weber; Miss White, sole teacher, Patoka; Miss Seeker, Pukahu; Miss M'Kenzie, Dannevirke West; Mr. Larsen. Kaiti; Mr. Dunpby, sole teacher. Ruaroa. The" vital statistics for Napier for the'month of June were: —Birfhs, 42; marriages, 10; deaths, 13; for the same period last year the figures were: Births, 42; marriages, 18; deaths, 19. Nino bankruptcies have been recorded in Napier (hiring the past six months.
