Tho new official telephone directory for Wellington .has just been issued. During tho past year, with the introduction of the automatic system, a great many subscribers' numbers havo been changed, and the telephone authorities reQuest that all old lists be destroyed. Tho result of the annual competition for tho best three-acre crop of swedes (flat or ridged), held under the auspices of the Masterton A. and i*. Association, has just been announced. The best crop was that of Messrs. Wilton Bros., of To Rangitumau, which produced 33 tons 15 civt. to the acre. The second most successful crop was that of Mr. H. H. Kummer, of Mauriceville. Heavy, warm rains havo fallen in the AVairarapa during the past week, and have produced a splendid growth of grass.
