INQUEST AT ROTORUA
A RIDER TO THE VERDICT. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Rotorua, June 25. An inquest on the body of Alfred Kereru Edwards, who died from- injuries caused by a log falling on him in-the Mainaku Bush, was held to-day before Mr. W. E. Bennett, J.P., Act-ing-Coroner, and a jury. The evidence' showed that the occurrence was. a pure accident. Dr. Find'ay house surgeon; of , Rotorua . Hospital, AL £ case was hopeless from the first. In reply to questions from the jury, he said ho called in Dr. Bertram for consultation, and not Dr. Scott \\ at son. He knew Dr. Scott Watson had. been m attendance oii the man. Witness did not know any reason why he should have been callcd in. In the hospital they were not compelled to call-in. anyone. It would have been necessary to call another doctor if they had decided to operate. He had no intention of showing discourtesy to Dr. Scott Watson: he could call in whom lio liked, and he followed the usua' custom in calling in Dr. Bertram.. It rested with the doctor in charge of the 38 whom he called in. It would not have assisted the patient had ho callcd in the doctor who first attended him.
