WIMMERA FROM HOBART. An expected arrival in port from Melbourne and Hobart to-day is the HuddortParker steamer Wimmera. She will be dispatched from the Queen's Wharf No. 6 for southern ports, Hobart, and Melbourne at 5 p.m. to-morrow.

ARAWA ARRIVES HOME. Cable advice has been received by the head office, of the Sh aw, Savill, and Albion Company stating that R.M.S. Arawa, which cleared Wellington on Hay 11, arrived at London on June 23. RUAHINE REPORTED. According to advice received by the local office of the New Zealand Shipping Company R.M.S. Ruahine, arrived at Cape Town from London on June 22. She was to nav® continued Her-journey to Hobart and Wellington on Juue 23, and is due here about the middle of next month. MARAMA FOR 'FRISCO. .' Shortly after 3 a.m. yesterday the Union Corapany'6 R.M.S. Marama arrived at Wellington from Sydney, and dropped anchor in the stream. Subsequently the vessel berthed at the Queen's Wliarf No. 1 south. The Jfarama cleared Sydney at noon on Saturday last, and experienced fair weather till she was two days out; thence strong easterly winds and heavy seas till arrival. This caused the vessel to be (i bout 12 hours late in making port. Tho Mamma left Wellington last evening for i-'an Francisco, via Barotonga and Papeete, and she is due at the Oalifornian port on July 14. MESS-TABLE GOSSIP. A dense fog enveloped Cook Strait and Wellington Harbour yesterday morning and during the first part of the afternoon, causing .great inconvenience to shipping. Steamers which should have made port early were delayed, and the ferry steamer Maori, although she entered Cook Strait well up to time did not berth at the wharf till 11 a.m. „ Duo in port from Lyttelton tlus moraine the Huddart-Parker steamer Ulimaroa will bo dispatched for Sydney direct and Hobart at noon to-day. The vessel h«6 relieved tho Hafceno in the running for a ' Sc Japanese steamer Asama Maiu, receniJy at Wellington, has been chartered to load at Newcastle for Honolulu. Some weeks ago it ™ reported that the barque Antiopc was to come to Wellington to be used as a coal hulk. Further advice concerning the vessel's movements states that she left, Newcastle last week for Sydney to discharge the remainder of her cargo of timber. At Sydney tho Antiope changes ownership, and after being docked, the old iron vessel will be brought across to Wellington, where her conversion into a. coal hulk will take place. London cable advices state that the reorganisation scheme of the Houlder Lino provides for the writing off of 50s. from ordinary shares, and fundin? accumulated arrears and preference dividends. According to an exchange the Union Co.'s Waipori has been fixed to load produce at the Bluff to-day. Oamaru on Saturday, and Tlmaru on Monday, for Napier and Auckland. Having left Wellington for Nydia Bay yesterday the coastal steamer Wootton will load up there with timber for Lyttelton, and will subsequently return to Wellington. Latest news from Australia Btates that the Union Company's Taviuni, well-known on the New Zealand coast, is now engaged in the Hobart-Mclbourne-Ncwcastle service. Captain Evans, late of tho Kiritane, is in charge of the vessel. Private adviccs have been received stating that the F. and S. chartered steamer Hurunui is expectcd to lave Liverpool any timo now for New Zealand ports. The Corinna, which left Wellington last evening, is due back here from New Plymouth on Tuesday next. She will load up for the Taranaki port. The local office of the A. and A. Line has been advised that the steamer Barotsc, bound from New York, via. Panama Canal, to Australian ports, should put into Wellington any time now to replenish her bunker coal. An exnected arrival at Auckland fjom Liverpool, via Hobart on Monday next, is the F. and S. liner La Blanca. She is duo at Wellington about July 4.
