KARORI BOROUGH COUNCIL
At Tuesday's mooting of tho Karori Borough Council thero wero present: The Mayor (Mr. B. G. H. Burn), and Councillors A. Hamilton, L. P. Davies, R. Fairo, T. W. Lewer, J. G. Raine, W. Cooper, R. T. Pell, and W. Skegg. A letter was rcccived from tho City Tramways Traffic sl~anager, reporting an instance of a youth over twelve years of a-ge riding on the tram 011 a child's concession ticket. ' It was decided that a letter ho written to the youth's parents roquosting that a caution bo administered, and intimating that . tho matter _ was being leniently viewed, because it was tho first case of tho kind reported to tho council. A copy of tho Order-in-Council relating to workers' tickets 011 tho trams was received. Various local bodies wrote, forwarding resolutions passed in connection with the council s protest against the system of levying Hospital and Charitable Aid contributions.—-Tlio letters wore received. The Public Works Committee's report included a recommendation that tlio Finance Committee should endeavour to raise the money for the erection of a caretaker's cottage at the Park, oil a site fronting the Main Road—The report was adopted.
To-morrow morning at 10.30 o'clock a sale of good building material of all deseriptions—2so sheets of iron, etc. —will be held by Messrs. E. Johnston and Co., on tho sround, Lower Cuba Street (opp. Town Hall). To-day an important sale of draught horses, drays, stock, and plant, in the bankrupt estate of Thomas and George Scnrr (by order of the Official Assignee) will be 'held on the premises, Emmett Street, Neivtown. Messrs. E. Johnston and Co. are the auctioneers. Tho period from 0110 full moon to another is 99 days, 12 hours, and 44.4 minutes.
