MAGISTRATE'S COURT A short sitting of the Magistrate's Court yesterday was presided over hv Captain W. H. ilennali and Mr. 11. !'■ Hanlon. A youth of sixteen years, named George Albert Ward, employed as a postman, was charged with two offences of stealing postal packets containing money, the property of tho PastmastcrGenoral. 110 was remanded to June 30. Bad was allowed in £25. James Jones and Joseph Hannon woro each sentenced to three months' gaol on charges of being rogues and vagabonds in that tliev had insufficient means of lawful support. Hannon pleaded that be had enlisted and was waiting to bo called up. Inspector Hcndrey remarked that men with such a record as the accused had were not worthy to fight for their country. For drunkenness, Marv Sptowoll was fined 205., or seven days' gaol, and William Card fined 55., or 2-1 hours' imprisonment. Four first offenders wore dealt with.
