Included in the bequests made by tho late Mr. John Sidey are one of £10,000 to tho Otago University, for genoral purposes, and one of £10,000 to tho Otago Hospital and Charitable Aid Hoard for the benefit of the Dirncdin ilospital.
Tho death occurred at Carterton oil Tuesday morning of Mrs. 'Winifred Fairbrother, relict of tlie. late llichard Fa irbrother, tho first Mayor of Carterton, at the ago of 83 years. The late Mrs. Fairbrother had enjoyed tlie best of health right up to her death, and could speak most •interestingly upon early days in New Zealand. The funeral will take place on Thursday afternoon.
