HARBOUR BOARD

MEETING TO-MORROW NIGHT. The ordinary meeting of tie Wellington Harbour Board has been postponed from this evening, on account of tho Prince of Wales's Birthday, till tomorrow evoning. Spccial business at tho meoting will be a further discussion on the Engineer's report on cool storage accommodation for cheese, and tho matter of providing additional shelters for waterside workers. The following notices of motion will also be considered: —"That a committee, consisting of five members of the board, be set up to report to the board at its next meeting upon the following matters: (a) The engagement of labour on the wharf: (b) the hours worked; (0) overtime worked : (d) distribution of employment; (d) number of gangs employed in one hold at one time; (f) and generally upon the conditions of engagement, employment, distribution, and discharge of 'labour on the Wellington waterfront" (Mr. A. H. Hindmansh); and "That, in view of the prospective developments of this port in the near future, the board now resolve that immediate steps be taken to consider the question of providing the port with an up-to-date dock. That inquiries be made as_ to the cost of a, fkating dock to operate on vesseh up to 1000 tons dead-weight, the dock to be placed in Lambton harbour" (Mr. Cable).
