f THE MIRAMAR. CLUB. Last -week's competition in aid of tho Miramar Golf Club's Belgian Fund, a medal round for Mr. R. L. D. Kidstou's trophy, was won by A. D. S. Duncan with the excellent score of 69 plus 3 — 72. The next best cards were: —K. P. Duncan, 77—i, 73; G. Bobb, 87 —12, 75; S. Hornabrook, 96 —20, 76; W. Barr,'9l—l4, 77; N. Chesnoy, 87—10, 77; C. R. C. Robinson, 91—14, 77. Next Saturday a medal round is being played on every course in New Zealand for winch the whole of the entrance fees will go to the Fund for Wounded Soldiers. It is hoped that many of those members who are unable to play ou Saturday will, nevertheless, send their entry in to the secretary, and so help to swell the fund.

In the elocutionary competitions held last week, the pupils of Miss Betty Purdom and Mr. Culford Bell secured no fewer than eleven first, six second, fivo third prizes, and sixteen honourable mentions, although the entries in most sections wore numerous and included former competition prize-winners. In addition to her town classes, Miss Betty Purdom intends, on July 3, to open a Saturday morning class for children at her ptt'ivate residence, Apu Crescent, Lyall Bay.
