MASTERTON NOTES
The revenue of the Masterfou Trust Lands Trust for the ensuing year is estimated at £3406 10s. Bd. The trustees have increased the grant of the Fernridge School for Agricultural Science purposes from £20 to £30. They have also made a vote of £30 to augment tho salary of a teacher at the District High School. A memorial service to fallen soldiers was held in the Masterton To mi Hall •on Sunday night, the building being crowded. Addresses were given by various ministers of religion, and music was rendered by the Regimental Band. A collection was taken up in aid of the Wounded Soldiers' Fund, and a sum of £18 was realised. The Masterton Co-operative Dairy Company on Saturday last made a vote of £50 to the Wounded Soldiers' Fund. A considerable number of Masterton settlers intend visiting the Manawatu Winter Show this week. The directors of the Masterton Cooperative Dairy Company have refused an offer of Is. sd. per pound for the balance of their output for the season, as they are selling, as far as possible, for local consumption;
'At the annual meeting of the Kaupokomii Co-operative Dairy Factory Co., Ltd.. held in .September last, it was decided to contribute one-half par cent, of tho value of the milk supply during the continuance of the war or until a war tax was imposed, and it was determined by the directors that such contribution should be devoted in equal parts to t'he Patriotic Fund and the Belgian and British Relief Fund. In pursuance of this purpose payments have been made by this company from timo, which, including tho payment made this month, mako a total contribution from this sourco of £600.
