"German troops 011 Saturday, with an Austrian Army Corps under FieldMarsha! von Arz, attacked strongly-fortified lines extending 213 miles north of Janov, to tho south-west of Ravaruska, and 12 milos wost of Lemberg, on a branch lino. "They stormed tho trenches in the afternoon and drovo the Russians behind the 'great road running between Zolkief, north of Lemberg (13 miles), and Ravaruska; "Under pressure of this defeat, the enemy on Saturday night evacuated an adjoining position botweon Grodek and tho Dniester marshes, whore they were heavily pressed by the Austro-Hungarians betwoon tho marshes north of Stryj." AUSTRIANS CLAIM FRESH VICTORIES. (Reo. June 21, 11.25 p.m.) Amsterdam, June 21. An Austrian communique states:—"We have gained a fresh and complete victory over tho Russians, who have collected the remnants of their defeated armies for the defence of Lemberg. General Ermoli, following General Mackensen's victory, stormed tin Russian positions 011 both .sides of the Lemberg road and entered the enemy's main positions. Everywhere the B.ussians aro now retreating along their entire trrnt towards Lemberg. We have captured a thousand prisoners and much war material." GERMANY FEARS RUMANIA AND BULGARIA. London, June 20. Tha "Observer's" Potrograd correspondent states that tho object of the Lemberg attack is to impress Rumania and Bulgaria. The German Staff regard tho position on the Gallipoli Peninsula as a stalo-mate, as neither side is ablo to use more men within the space. There is thus only danger if Rumania and Bulgaria intervene.
