RUGBY 'SATURDAY'S CUP MATCHES. Saturday was bitterly cold and wot, and the l?-ugby mutches attracted only email attendances. The results of tho games were:—Athletic 11, Oriental 0; Trentham B 0, Ponake 0; University 8, Selwyn 3; Petone 22, Wellington 0; Trentham C 9, Trentham AG. ATHLETIC AND ORIENTAL. Atlilet-ic and Oriental met at Athletic Park, and by excellent combination Athletic secured a decisive victory. In the first spell M'Carlie scored a try for Athletic, and in ,the second spell A. obtained a'try, which S. Wilsop converted, and S. Wilson kicked a penalty goal. Athletic, Jl; Oriental, 0. Mr. G. H. Perkinson was referco. UNIVERSITY AND SELWYN. University beat Selwyn on No. 2ground' at Athletic Park by Bto 3. Williamson scored a try for Selwyn. For University, .Kerr and Sullivan obtained tries, one of which Beard converted. Mr. Hunt was referen. TRENTHAM IS AND PONEKE. Although not inspiriting enough to mako the ordinary spectator shout liimnelf hoarse, the encounter' between L'rontham 13 and Poneke at Lower Hutt was quito brisk. It was a hard forward game right through, but Fortuno ruled that- there should he no score, and the game was drawn.. Mr. lteade rol'ereed. TRENTHAM A AND TRENTHAM C. Tho greasy turf at Trentham reduced tho meeting of tho two 6oldier teams at Trentham on Saturday to only a little nhove ordinary form. The C team finished up the stronger, and they scored 8 points inoro than their opponents. The game ended: Trentham C 9, Trentham A, 6. Mr. Larway was referee. PETONE AND WELLINGTON. At Petone on Saturday, Petono scored an easy win over Wellington. The backs of the town team were much off colour —they could not kick, neither could they collar. The Welington forwards strugged gamey, but they were i unabpo to hod tho suburban men. The game ended: Petone, 22; Wellington, 0. Mr. E. N. Tregear was referee. 1 THIRD-CLASS. Wellington College Old Boys defeated Uppeer Hutt by 28 point to. 3. Barker, Gray, Hislop, Mellor, C. Keene, and Colo scored for Old Boys, while Barker potted a goal and Pilcher converted two tries and Gray one. FOURTH-CLASS. Selwyn defeated Wellington by 31 to 8. Hutt beat Petone by 8 to 0. Old Boys (33) defeated St. James (9). FIFTH-OLASS. Petone (<IS) heat Hutt (0). SIXTH-CLASS. Petone (15) defeated Athlotic (0). SCHOOL GAMES. Senior A.—South Wellington. (16) defeated Terrace (0); Newtown (5) v. Mount Cook (0); Petone West (23) v. Hutt (8). Senior B. —Jolinsonvillo (3) defeated Kilbirnio (0); Clydo Quay (27) v. To Aro (0)..
